Puerto Rico Missions: Training the Next Generation

We spent time in six different cities in Puerto Rico (February 25th through March 4th, 2014) and met some amazing people in each.  The Island was absolutely breathtaking.  Most people who vacation there never get further than the beaches, which were gorgeous. When you travel inland you find a beautiful people and gorgeous scenery, from flamboya trees to breathing taking mountain landscapes.

Many of the people I encountered during the trip were receptive to prayer, or words of encouragement.  I talked to many different ministers during the trip but one story sticks out above the rest.  One of the workers at the bakery, where we stayed, volunteered at a local orphanage.  She told me children that come into the orphanage are moved from orphanage to orphanage.  She said that the children she sees never get a sense of home because they are moved around so much.  I believe the country is primed for a mighty working of Gods hand.

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Mat. 19:24

Training the Next Generation

Another story I would like to share, took place in San German, and it starred a 12 year old young man named Joseph.  I was treasure hunting in San German with two ladies from our team and the pastor of La Vineyard San German, Pastor Eddie, and his grandson Joseph.  I had asked Eddie and Joseph if they had ever done anything like this before and Joseph said “No.” As we were walking around the city I asked the Lord for some clues that lead us to two different people.  After the second encounter, Joseph was curious and wanted to play.  So I told him to ask the Lord for two words (clues).  When I asked him what his words were, He said “Banana, balloon.”  So we walked around the city looking for the Joseph’s clues.

The boy was eager to find the clues from God. And when we noticed balloons in a gift shop he was beaming. There was a woman loading the trunk of her car and beside the sidewalk near her was a flower that looked like a bunch of bananas hanging on a tree. The clues had lead us to this woman. She asked for prayer for her son who broke his knee, when he fell off his skateboard. There wasn’t a miraculous healing on the spot as far as I know, but to Joseph, God had never been so real. His face turned red like a boy with a crush, and he had an extra bounce in his step as we said goodbye to the woman. God had used a 12 year old boy to lead us to a person He wanted to touch. God is awesome.

For me, this is the story that I love the most because not only did we get to pray for someone, but I was able to teach a boy about prophecy and how God is active in our lives. He never ceases to amaze me.

Adoration

2014-04-07 20.03.45Webster's defines adoration as: "strong feelings of love or admiration." As a father of four daughters and one son, I'm always finding ways to give my kids more daddy time and love. I wanted to share one those stories today about my thirteen year old, Daisy.
For my daughter's Daisy thirteenth birthday, I wanted to do something special for her that she would remember for her whole life. After a little bit of praying and a lot head scratching I decided to propose to my daughter. Now I know a lot of you out there might be saying or thinking different things about me but hang in there, it isn't that weird at all. If you've ever raised a daughter, than you've probably heard someone say the teenage years will be Hell. Well, I choose to look at the start of my daughters teens as a blessing and decided to do all I could to celebrate the fact that she was entering womanhood. So in secret I started shopping for a diamond ring, (Diamond is her birthstone) and tasking friends of mine to aid in the search. I finally found the perfect ring, so then came the planning.
We live near Savannah, GA so I planned a day trip for Daisy, my wife and me. I took time off work and made all the arrangements so that all we had to worry about was the weather. We left the house at 8:30 am, drove to Savannah and went to a large park downtown. There was a large fountain in the center of the park and in front all the tourists, workers, and other bystanders, I got down on one knee and made a promise to my daughter.
I know you don't know me, but my heart was beating out of my chest the entire time, just like the day I asked my wife to marry me. What did I promise? I'm glad you asked! I said "Daisy, I promise to be the best Dad a girl like you needs, I promise to always love you, I'm so proud of the girl you were, and the young woman your are today. I bless you with more of God's love and wisdom, as you continue the pursuit of Him. I also bless you with the patience to be an overcomer of the things of this world, and I bless you to become the women that God always intended you to be." There was a lot of tears, (many by me) and hugs, but when I put that ring on her finger something amazing happened. My daughter fell in love with me all over again. My daughter adored me and still does today 3 months after that day.
Dads do you want to feel adored by your children? Its simple, make them the center of your universe. Show them that you would stop the rotation of the earth if they needed you to. They no longer have to hope for the knight in shinning armor to come sweep our daughters off their feet. Be the king that your daughters can adore. I'm not worried about my daughter's teen years because I know that she will always come to me for advice or help.
That's my story and in case your wondering my next oldest daughter turns 13 next year and she is already expecting her ring. Dads, we are the key to raising young women!!!

Puerto Rico Missions: A Hunt for Healing

Thank you all so much for the support on my recent trip to Puerto Rico on February 25th through March 4th, 2014. The trip was, in one word, “awesome.” We ministered to hundreds of people in 7 different cities. The Team and I experienced God’s miracles through prophetic word, physical healings, and spoken blessings. We helped give out over 40 pairs of free custom made reading glasses, and participated in an Ordination service for two great pastors. I could write many testimonies about what happened but it would take too long. So I decided to share a few stories that occurred while I was there.

A Hunt for Healing

Treasure hunting is a prophetic evangelism ministry where we ask God for clues about a person(s) that He would like us to pray for. As we walk around the city and discover the clues he’s given us prophetically, we pray for anyone who is nearest those clues.

One of the days we started in a city called Fajardo, Puerto Rico’s northeastern-most city. We split up into teams and I was partnered with the team leader, Ray Maldonado, and one of the other team members, Dolly. We asked God for clues and Ray got “checkered shirt” and I got “blue building, staircase, and star.”

We had walked around for a half hour and prayed for several different people. We returned to the plaza (which is a park at the center of town) where we had started, when we saw a blue building. As we approached, we noticed a staircase around the side and there were even star graphics on the windows. We walked to the building and standing near a catering truck was a man wearing a plaid shirt. We asked him if he would like prayer and he said that his wife, Carmen, needed prayer for a back injury.
So the team and I prayed for healing for Carmen. After we prayed we asked her how she was feeling. She started to twist and turn with a surprised look on her face. She smiled, bent over and touched her toes. She started to cry and told us that she hadn’t been able to bend over for weeks because of her back pain. God had healed her on the spot. It was exciting and awing.

We then prayed for her husband, daughter, and even her two friends who were skeptical of the need for prayer. God led us to Carmen and we got to minister to her whole family all from a few clues. Thank God for His healing hand and His mysterious ways. To Him be the glory!

Honeymoon with God

Upon my return home, I was greeted with a warm hug from my wife, Heather Trim, yummy cupcakes from my children and a banner that said, "Welcome Home Daddy." After the reunion hugs, I gave them gifts and briefly shared some of the stories with them. As I reflect on my time in Puerto Rico I can't help but describe it as a honeymoon with God. Never before have I been in such a beautiful place and experienced such a deep relationship with God. I grew more in love with Him and our relationship has become greater than it has ever been.

Thanks again to all who graciously gave financially and prayed for me while I was gone. Your prayers were felt. Like every great movie, the actors on the screen get all the awards but it's the people behind the scenes that make a great movie what it really is. For all of you behind the scenes in this great adventure, I can't thank you enough. Because of your great support I got to stand in God's spotlight and star in His movie.
